The Greenest Freelancer in NL
The greenest freelancer in the Netherlands. Not sure if I am the greenest but I am trying to be more sustainable everyday. And I am challenging the people around me to be greener than I am. So how do you become the greenest freelancer in the Netherlands and maybe in the world, without skipping a fossil fuel car, plane or hamburger once in a while?
I started with the way I think about consuming food, use transport, work, use energy... and go on a holiday. But thinking alone doesn’t help the environment or our long term goals of extracting less from our world.
Check out my real steps below.
This is what I do now:
I bought a telephone and internet tv contract at KPN.
KPN is the most sustainable telecom provider in the world. KPN is climate neutral.
I travel to work as often as possible in a train or metro, or by bike when my work is close by.
Travel in a climate neutral way with the Dutch railways NS.
I eat as much vegetables as possible instead of meat (difficult one)
But a salad during lunch is a better option than a hamburger, for you and the world.
I work for companies who want to create a sustainable world
My first freelance assignment was at the Windcentrale, my second at Veldhoen + Company, my third at Certified Energy, the fourth at Fronteer... next step...?!
Furthermore I paid the USD equivalent of 30 tons of C02 in 2018 to a C02 reducing project in Laos via Goldstandard.org in 2018. An average household in the Netherlands uses around 8 tons of C02 per year + 13,5 tons of indirect use because of clothing, food and other stuff according Milieu Centraal. This might mean I had a little bit of surplus of C02 reduction in 2018.
So curious how I can approve in 2019.
